You take on the role of Jin Sakai a lone samurai who must defend his home, the mythical island of Yotei, from a brutal Mongol invasion. It’s not an easy task for sure, especially when you are so outnumbered, you know? The game throws you right into some intense combat situations early on. You got to learn quick. The open-world design here is just fantastic, seriously, every corner feels like it has something interesting to discover, be it a hidden shrine or some enemy patrol to deal with. Traversal across the island is smooth. You ride a horse, climb cliffs, and sneak through tall grass; pretty standard stuff but it works. Combat is a real highlight for me, a good mix of precise parries and brutal, satisfying strikes. You can stand your ground like a true samurai, challenging foes head-on, or, you can embrace the 'Ghost' persona, using stealth and cunning to thin out enemy ranks before they even know you’re there.
